He was born in the Cherokee Strip, now a part of OK, 28 miles south of Englewood, KS. When a young lad his family moved to Harper Co. KS. In 1910 they moved to Minidoka Co. ID, where Burt spent most of the remainder of his life.
He married Pearl Sylvester Witherspoon 30 Aug 1916 in Twin Falls, ID. They are the parents of six sons: Clinton Loy, Norvel Leslie, Leo Burt, William Judson, Ernest Lyle and Glen Darrel.
After Pearl's death, Burt married Ethel (Brown) Sanderson
