Burial at Spaders

Mrs. Addie Catherine Washington, aged 78, widow of D. N. Washington, supervisor of Ashby district andsuperintendent of the Rockingham county alms house for eight years, died early yesterday at her home near Pleasant Valley.

"Mother" Washington, as she was affectionately known for years, has been ill for some time. Death was due to complications incident to age. She was beloved by hundreds
and until her health failed her. She always was eager to help anyone in distress. Her place in the community can never be filled.

Mrs. Washington was a daughter of the late Isaac and Susan Rhinehart and was born near Linville, in which community she spent her early life.

She was a faithful and devoted charter member of St. Mark's Reformed Church at Pleasant Valley.

Surviving are: two daughters-Mrs. T. T. Dodd and Mrs. G. G. Bowen, of Pleasant Valley and a brother—T. A. Rhinehart, of Harrisonburg, the last survivor of a family of ten children. A son, William Warren Washington, died in 1921. His widow, Mrs. Margaret Washington, now resides at Crozet.

Funeral services will be held from Spaders Lutheran Church Wednesday at eleven o'clock, friends meeting at the home of Mrs. Bowman at 10:30. Services will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. C.M.
