Minnie Bell Boyles was born on June 1, 1878 in Hope, Randolph Co., North Carolina. She was the daughter of Rev. Marcus Wrightman "M.W." Boyles (1842-1892) and Susan A. (Alice ?) Wood (1846-1895). Her father, Marcus, was an "old-time" Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) circuit preacher. His father and grandfather were also Methodist preachers.

Both of Minnie's parents were born in Lincoln Co., NC and both died in Lexington, Davidson Co., NC where they are buried in the Lexington City Cemetery.

Minnie died from cholera on May 22, 1880 in New Hope, Randolph Co., NC, just a few days before her second birthday. She is buried in the Oak Grove Methodist Episcopal (now United Methodist) Church Cemetery in Randolph County.
