Trujillo -- Arthur E. Trujillo, Sr., 77, a resident of Las Cruces for 40 years, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Arthur was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Josephine Trujillo of Las Cruces; five daughters, Margaret Franklin and husband, Richard of Santa Clarita, CA, Arthie Jo Shuman and husband, Alan of Santa Fe, Elaine L. de Trujillo and Geraldine J. Garcia and husband, Tony, all of Albuquerque, and Trish Soybel and husband, Josh of Moscow, Russia; two sons, Arthur E. Trujillo, Jr. and wife, Leticia of Las Cruces and James K. Trujillo of Denver, CO; six granddaughters; five grandsons; three sisters, Flora Apodaca of Albuquerque, and Leonor Lovato and Mary Montoya, both of Las Vegas, NM; and two brothers, Aniceto Trujillo of Pueblo, CO and Frank Trujillo of Denver, CO. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by one brother, Eginio Trujillo and one sister, Teodorita Valverde. Mr. Trujillo was a veteran of WWII having enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Class aboard the USS Pierce, USS Heywood and USS Doyen. As a navy Corpsman, he participated in 12 battles in the Pacific and was recipient of the American Theater of War, Asiatic Pacific, Philippine Liberation, Presidential Unit, Good Conduct and Navy Honor Commendation Medals. Arthur was also retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 40 years service in New Mexico and Texas. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Jerry Hietpas reciting. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 4020 St. Joseph Place SW, with Father Frank Prieto, Celebrant. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arthur Trujillo Jr., James Trujillo, Jeffrey Shuman, Ryan Shuman, Cris Stern, John Franklin, and Jamison Soybel. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of New Mexico, 525 San Pedro NE, Suite 101, 87108.
