Mrs. Sarah Anne Watkins, 78, native of Henry County, but for some years a resident of Roanoke, died Thursday at the home of her dau., Mr. W. R. Lynskey in that city, following several weeks illness.
Mrs. Watkins suffered a fractured hip in a fall while visiting her sister, Mrs. J. A. Stegall at Fieldale, from which she failed to recover.
She is the dau. of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Minter of Leatherwood, where she was born and raised.
Surviving are the following children: J. W. Watkins, Reidsville, N.C.; J. H. Watkins, Roanoke; Mesdames E. T. Carter, W. R. Lynskey and Mrs. Mattie C. Woodall, all of Roanoke; Mrs. O. J. Alrff [sic], Salem and Mrs. C. I. Carter, Northfolk, W. Va.
Three brothers, James, Joe and Silas Minter, all of Leatherwood, two sisters, Mrs. J. A. Stegall, Fieldale, and Mrs. Julia Long, Leatherwood. Funeral services held from Church Street Primitive Baptist Church here. Burial at Oakwood.
