Johann Nicholas Boschung and his family arrived in October 1732, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as German-Swiss Palatines on the Pink John and William. His family used the anglicized spelling of his name - Bushong. His brother, Hans John Bushong IV (1692-1749) , had immigrated the prior year.

The two youngest children died on the voyage, and Nicholas and Magdalena died, soon after reaching Lancaster County. Their deaths were likely from the depravations of the voyage and the Influenza Pandemic of 1732 that was in Philadelphia when they arrived.

Nicholas and Magdalena, married in Germany in 1715 and are known to have had at least seven children. With the exception of their last child, all of their children were born in Schmalenberg, Landkreis Südwestpfalz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Daughter, Anna Maria was born in Rotterdam, South Holland Province, Netherlands, while the family was en route to Pennsylvania.

Their children.
1. Maria Barbara (1715-1715)
2. Johann Anton Andreas (1717-1790)
3. Maria Barbara Juliana (Meixel)(1719-1805)
4. Johann George Henrich (1722-after 1774)
5. Eve Elisabeth (Swartz) (1724-before 1770)
6. Johann Nicholas Jr. (1727-1732)
7. Anna Maria (1732-1732)

Nicholas and his brother, Hans John are the predecessors of the American Bushong family and virtually every Bushong in America is descended from them. Their descendants number in the thousands.
