United States Navy Petty Officer Third Class. He boarded the tanker, Samra, to inspect it for Iraqi oil. Shortly after he boarded, the tanker sank in the Persian Gulf. The tanker was under the flag of the United Arab Emirates. Recovered November 23, 2001. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Johnson was based at Norfolk Naval Station, Virginia. Benjamin boarded the tanker, Samra, to inspect it for Iraqi oil. Shortly after he boarded, the tanker sank in the Persian Gulf. The tanker was under the flag of the United Arab Emirates. His body was recovered November 23, 2001. Benjamin got a chance to do a few of the things he wanted to do in life: graduated from high school, traveled a bit, married his high school sweetheart. But the list of things he didn’t get to do is much longer. He wanted to take a missions trip to England with his wife, finish his military service, go to college, become a teacher, buy a house and have children.
