Richard Hanson, 20

Richard Michael Hanson was born Saturday, November 12, 1983, at the Grant County Hospital in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, to Rick and Denise Hanson.

Richard was baptized at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River and received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation there as well.

Richard grew up in Miltona and attended Alexandria public schools. Richard enjoyed life, his family and friends, John Deere tractors, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, tractor pulls and he loved the outdoors.

Richard enjoyed working on the road and building construction. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment. He was previously employed by Eblen Construction and currently employed by Chad Hjelm.

Richard died as a result of an automobile accident on January 22, 2004, near Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River on January 26, 2004 with Reverend Al Ludwig officiating. Interment was in the Carlos Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Kraemer, Brent McManigle, Louis Kreidler, Jason Mrnak, Ryan Suchy, Dustin Hvezda, Lee Eblen and Chad Hjelm.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather: Denise and Marvin Hoppe of Miltona; father: Richard Hanson of Spokane, WA; sisters: Niki (Brent) McManigle of Alexandria; Amber Johnson of Miltona; and Heather and Leah Hanson of Evansville; nephew: Samuel McManigle of Alexandria; grandparents: Mike and Doris Steidl of Miltona; and Bob and Barb Meis of Fergus Falls; great-grandmother: Alice Olson of Webster, SD; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
