Verla L. Newman Stoneman, 84, of Woodlawn, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.
She was born March 31, 1922, in Carroll County to Ralph and Josie Littreal Lineberry.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Buford Mabe of Aurora, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Newman of Austinville and Joe and Martha Newman of Cumming, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Newman of Galax; sisters, Guyda Hackler of Roanoke and Kate Angle of Salem; a brother, J.C. Lineberry of Galax; a sister-in-law, Jewel Lineberry of Galax; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Sunday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial was in Felts Memorial Cemetery.
