Daisy was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica, and migrated to England in 1960. In 1968 Daisy migrated to the USA, and resided in Brooklyn, NY with her family.
In 1996, Daisy and her immediate family moved to South Florida. Nana, (as she is lovingly called) was a caregiver whose love and compassion stretched from Jamaica, England and the USA. Daisy Atherton was a peace maker, always bridging the gap against animosity amongst everyone that she knew. Daisy was the personification of kindness, generosity, peace and love that has followed her to the end.
Daisy is survived by her husband, Carlyle; three children, DK Brown (Babs), Wayne and Althea; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; goddaughter, Clair and three step-children, Chelsea (Blossom), Angela and Trevor.
Funeral services will be held at the World Harvest Community Church of God, 1601 Lauderdale Manor Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, at 12 noon on Jan. 2, 2010. Daisy will lie in state from 10-12 noon in the church. Her body will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North, 200 W. Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL. Immediately after the burial the repass will be held at the World Harvest Church of God.
