JAMES A. BEELER
James A. Beeler, 75, of Cleveland Heights, OH, died Monday, Dec. 17th, at 10:40 a.m. at his residence. Born June 19, 1926, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Azel D. and Mary Shields [Fields] Beeler. He married Joanne S. Scott, and she died in 1987.
He was a 1943 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, and a 1950 graduate of Butler University with a degree in Political Science and History. He was an accountant for the Rule E. Jenkins Insurance Company in Indianapolis. In 1960, he joined the accounting dept. of North American Manufacturing Company in Cleveland, retiring in 1992 as credit manager. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, France, and Belgium as an infantryman with the 106th Division, a machine gunner and rifle grenadier with the 423rd Infantry Division, and the 3rd Armored Division.
He was a member and former Deacon of the Euclid Avenue Christian Church in Cleveland Heights, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution for and the National Muzzel Loading Rifle Association for over 50 years, the Antique Auto Club, the Western Reserve Historical Society, and the American Legion in Cleveland. His father was a Professor of History at Butler University, fostering an interest in genealogy and history. He traced his family history throughout its Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry.
