WILBUR GETTYS MEETS DEATH
Ansley, Neb., Oct. 30 - A fatal football accident here Saturday afternoon ended the life of a young man, Wilbur Gettys of Arnold. The game was being played between Arnold and Ansley High schools. The contest had not been in progress long when the fatal accident occurred. Young Gettys had the ball when tackled and went to the ground with several players on top of him. In the fall his neck was broken and death was instantaneous.
His brother, who was also playing on the Arnold team, was so shocked at Wilbur's death that he fainted and was carried from the field.
Wilbur Gettys is the son of Rev. Gettys, pastor of the Methodist church at Arnold. The boy's father was notified and he came after the body Saturday night. The lad was sixteen years of age and his untimely death has cast a gloom over the entire community.
