Mom was so sweet natured that dad always referred to her as his Angel on Earth. My brothers and I adored mom, she was funny, accomplished, and you couldn't get anything past her.

Lois Alma Boerum Cole was born in Norwalk, Connecticut into a small, but loving family. Her mother Alma was deserted by her husband when the children were very young. Lois' loving grandmother, grandfather and mother came through for her and she became a strong woman hidden behind a beautiful face and a feminine grace.

Lois married Peter Richard Cole, an Army Air Force Sergeant, during WWII and traveled the country with him. They raised two accomplished sons who both served their country during the Vietnam War.

After WWII they settled in their hometown of Norwalk, Connecticut and Lois worked her entire life starting out as a legal secretary and eventually for Southern New England Bell.

Peter and Lois retired in their early 50's and followed their two sons and grandchildren to Florida. They loved watching the Space Shuttle launches and being near the ocean.

Lois enjoyed playing the piano and enjoyed her cats and feeding the birds. After her son Jerry died suddenly and Peter passed away, she lived with her oldest son and his loving wife. Stricken with Alzheimer's, she was cared for every day for five years with compassion and love. It was her son who held her hand when she passed away ... Lois shared a special bond with her oldest son and he didn't fail her when she needed him the most.

Lois is buried with her beloved Peter at the Military National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Her son Gerald (Jerry) Cole has a marker in the same cemetery.

Alzheimer's is a horrible disease that destroys the victim and their family. Mom fought it like a tiger, but it was a battle lost from the first day.
