Dale S. Pecht, 100, of Milroy, died at 1 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at his home.

Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Siglerville, he was a son of the late Ralph C. and Anna (Swartzell) Pecht.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Edna Mae (Belles) Pecht, whom he married July 22, 1939, and died on April 10, 2000; two sisters, Grace Shaffer and Marian Pecht; and a brother, Lee Pecht.

He is survived by: two sons, Dale E. Pecht and wife, Sharon, of Weedville and David A. Pecht and wife, Katie, of Milroy; six grandchildren, Irene Spickler and husband, Kurt, Robert Pecht and wife, Mary, Shannon Pecht, Amanda Cordell and husband, Jim, Nathan Pecht and Lindsay Pecht; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 95th Infantry known as The Iron Men of Metz, in France. Dale was awarded the American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was proud to serve his country.

Dale was a protestant by faith. Earlier in life Dale owned and operated a school bus in Armagh Township for a number of years. He then worked construction mostly out of State College. Around 1960 he decided to get a job inside, working for J-Wood until retirement in 1978. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking pies. Dale mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

All services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place with VFW Post 7011 honors in Salem Cemetery, Milroy. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., Suite 206, State College, PA 16803. Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
