Senior Airman Mark Forester, 29, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died Sept. 29 in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations in the area. He was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C. He deployed to Afghanistan in April 2010. Mark has been awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for his heroic actions during a previous battle and a Purple Heart for him paying the ultimate price for freedom. He is son of Ray and Pat Forester, he also survived by a sister, Terri Sandler; brothers, David, Joseph and Thad Forester and a host of relatives and friends.
