Mariah Virginia Clemmer Reed Baber, 93, widow of Richard P. Baber, died Monday morning, Sept. 27, 2010.

Prior to her residence at Emeritus (Loyalton) Assisted Living, she resided at her son's home at 2907 Shutterlee Mill Road in Staunton.

She was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Moffatt's Creek, the eldest daughter of John C. and Annie Adair Clemmer.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Ward's and home health care. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her five children and their spouses, Estelle Reed and James W. Wade, Bonnie Reed and Donald L. Wright, Bettie Baber and Glen J. Oberholtzer and Richard P. and Teresa Baber of Staunton and Katie Baber and J. Glenn Wood of Churchville; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by a sister, Ruby S. Rhodes, and a brother, J. Frank Clemmer of Staunton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Churchville, with the Rev. Jack B. Wilkers officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends between 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Sept. 29, 2010, at the funeral home.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Woodrow D. Morriss, Jr. Scholarship Fund of Third Presbyterian Church, 1313 Barterbrook Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
