Mary Julia "Mernie" (Simmons) Fornal, 84, of Butler Street, Meriden, died, Monday, August 7, 2006, at the Bradley Home in Meriden.
She was born in Wallingford, February 18, 1922 a daughter of the late Clarence and Elsie (Wustrak) Simmons, and had lived in South Meriden and Meriden for many years. She had been employed at Miller Memorial Community in Meriden for many years. Well known for her needlework she was a talented seamstress, and had been a home health aide.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan L. and Frank Pehr of Meriden, and Roxanne M. and Walter Shrenker of Wallingford; her son, Allen S. Fornal and Susan Ruth Lyons of South Windsor; her seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Fornal, and Brenton Fornal and his wife Crystal, all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lynsdey Leanne Fornal of West Seneca, NY, Suzanne Lavoie and her husband Roger of Wallingford, Jason Joshua Pehr of Meriden, Breanne Lynn Shrenker and Zacharry Scott Shrenker, both of Wallingford; her five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elsie Swantek; and her four brothers, George, Clarence, Henry and William Simmons.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
