Albert Boone

Albert Boone of Elkhart, Texas passed away on April 30, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long, brave battle with cancer. He was 93 years old at the time of his death. He was born June 11, 1922 in Crosses, Arkansas; and he and his family moved to Hickory Grove, Texas in 1931.
After graduation from Slocum High School in 1940, Albert joined the Civilian Conservation Course and worked for a year in Arizona. He joined the Naval Air Corp then joined the Merchant Marines, where he served for the remainder of WWII, honorably discharged in 1945.

After the war, Albert returned home and married Lillie Faye Howard April 19, 1947. Soon after, they moved to Texas City where he was hired by Monsanto Chemical Company as an operator. He was quickly promoted to Chief operator then to Foreman of the Utilities Department where he worked until his retirement in 1977. After retirement, he worked teaching Boiler Operations in the Texas Prison systems for three years.

Albert loved fishing, woodwork, and working on this computer, which included taking pictures and becoming the family historian. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Texas City. Albert was always quick with a joke and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his willingness to help anyone in need, and for fixing the neighborhood kid's bicycles.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father (Dan and Bertha Boone), sister (Ethel Johnson), and brothers (Henry and Howard Boone).

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lillie Faye Howard Boone; son William (wife Jan) Boone; twin daughters Marilyn Baker (fiancé Dennis Stockman) and Marcelyn Boone; and grandson Casey Baker; as well as numerous neighbors who he also considered family.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 4 at 10am, with visitation scheduled for Tuesday 6-8pm, both at Bailey and Foster in Palestine, Texas.

Pallbearers are Casey Baker, Dennis Stockman, Mark Edwards, Lester Edwards, Ed Frederick, and Jake Frederick. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Lewis, David McKinney, Russell Heuer, and Danny Andrews.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations are sent to a local church, Heart to Heart Hospice Tyler, or your favorite charity.
