Carmen D. Abernathey, 81, formerly of Covington, died Feb. 27 in her daughter's residence at Greenville, Mich.
Mrs. Abernathey was a school teacher of art and music at Covington Elementary School for 28 years and was an adult education teacher. Her memberships included First Baptist Church, Covington. She received a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and a master's degree from Indiana State University.
She was born April 21, 1921, at Gessie, to Everett and Ruby Fox Hines. She married Wayne L. Abernathey. He died in 1957.
Survivors include a daughter, Waynette Brandt, Greenville, Mich., and a grandson.
Private family services were conducted. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington. Brown-Teman and Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, Mich., is in charge of arrangements.
