Eliza Burt was the daughter of David Lieutenant Burt and Mary Fletcher Burt. She married Thomas McDonald on February 25, 1841, in Ohio. Thomas and Eliza McDonald came to Madison County, Iowa in 1862. They settled on 300 acres of land in Section 21, Douglas Township. Thomas was a farmer. They had eight children, seven of the children located in Madison County, Iowa. John Burt died in Ohio.
