Dovie was born in Tanglewood, but lived in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas most of her life. She married William Roy "Bill" Green, Sr., Dec. 20, 1946 in Rockdale. She retired after 13 years as secretary for the United Steel Workers of America Local 4895. She also worked for Appleman's Department Store, Stricker's Variety Store, American National Insurance Co. of Galveston, Jack Lewis Insurance Co. and Mehaffey's Department Store. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her brothers, and one granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Nelson (1982-1987).
