Richard H. Anderson, 71, of Anderson Road died unexpectedly Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.

He was born here, a son of Burton and Edith Woodman Anderson, attended local schools and graduated from Hollis High School.

During World War II, he served in the Army.

Mr. Anderson worked all his life at the family dairy farm here.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and giving away produce from the farm.

He was an active member of Goodwin's Mills United Methodist Church.

His wife, M. Frances Smith Anderson, died in 1984, and a son, Dexter, also died previously.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Dixie) Harris and Mrs. Timothy (Gayle) Barstow, and a brother, Robert B., all of Dayton; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Goodwin's Mills United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Heafield will officiate. Burial will be in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Hollis. Arrangements are by York Funeral Chapel, Gorham.
