FUNERAL OF TALLMAN DE CLARKE - The funeral of Tallman De Clarke the pioneer railroad constructor, who died Tuesday afternoon, took place yesterday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Haffenden. There was a large attendance of he friends of the family, and also railroad men from the city, who came to pay their last respects. At 3 o'slock two cars loaded with friends from the city arrived at the house, and filled the house and yard. The pallbearers were" J.N. Wheeler, James Wickersham, Max Young, J.W. Strait, H.E. Happersert and J.M. Quaid, railroad men , except the last, who was an old friend. Rev. J.E. Snyder, pastor of the Third Presbyterian church, conducted the services at the house in an impressive manner.
After appropriate music by the choir, Mr. Snyder read a ssketch of the deceased, speaking of his great age, which was something more than 79 years, and his long years of active service in building many miles of railroad in the early days of Oregon. He had been a very useful man in his tie. After an earnest prayer by the preacher, the choir rendered "Nearer, My God, to Thee." The remains then were conveyed to Lone Fir cemetery, where the last rites were performed. There were many floral tributes from friends.
