Happersert and J.M. Quaid, railroad men , except the last, who was an old friend. Rev. J.E. Snyder, pastor of the Third Presbyterian church, conducted the services at the house in an impressive manner.

After appropriate music by the choir, Mr. Snyder read a ssketch of the deceased, speaking of his great age, which was something more than 79 years, and his long years of active service in building many miles of railroad in the early days of Oregon. He had been a very useful man in his tie. After an earnest prayer by the preacher, the choir rendered "Nearer, My God, to Thee."
