Charlie was the son of John Calloway Crocker, born March 30, 1835 (or circa 1830) Alabama, died August 1898 (or 1894) Leake County, Mississippi; and, Elizabeth Jane Strait, born December 6, 1832 Greene County, Alabama, died December 17, 1917 Leake County, Mississippi. John Calloway Crocker served with 35TH MISS INF, CO E, CSA, known as Muckalusha Guards of Neshoba County, organized 27 Nov 1861.

On December 7, 1877, Charlie married T. Florence Dorman in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. (See: Marriage Records of Lauderdale County, Book "B" , pg. 375. CROCKER, R C., DORMAN, T F. Miss 1877-Dec-09.) They were the parents of the following known children:

***LaVertie Ann "Vertie" (1879-1969) married first James Henderson "Jim" Gore; second Alonzo "Lonnie" Sistrunk;

***Charles Wesley (1880-1969) married Mary Frances Fortenberry;

***Elvie Jane (1882-1954) married George Henry Sistrunk;

***Mamie Lorena "Rena" (1886-1954) married William Henry Clay Fortenberry;

***Velma (1890-1956);

****William Robert "Bunch" (1893-1975) married Frances Cornelia "Nelia" Russell; [parents of William Vivan "Bill" Crocker]

***John A. Orin (1896-1956) married Ola Hilda Hicks.

Charlie was the grandson of Clarke Crocker, born about 1776 South Carolina, died October 21, 1854 Lauderdale County, Mississippi; and, Anne Beason Crocker, born after 1784 North Carolina, died after 1855. Clarke Crocker, age 54, is on the 1830 US Federal Census in Marengo County, Alabama and on the June 1, 1840 US Federal Census in Kemper County, Mississippi. Clarke and Anne are on the US Federal Census taken September 27, 1850 in the Southern District of Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Clarke was a veteran of the War of 1812.
