ELAINE FLORENCE BROCHU COLCHESTER - Elaine Florence Brochu of Colchester, died on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, in the Vermont Respite House. She was born in Stowe on July 16, 1929, the daughter of the late Carley R. and Ruby L. (Twombly) Newcity. She is survived by her three children, Shelley Villemaire of Essex Junction, Michael Brochu and wife, Sheree, of South Burlington, Lisa Terjelian of Colchester; her former son-in-law, Roger Villemaire of Essex Junction; six grandchildren, Jason Villemaire and wife, Deb, Joe Villemaire, Eric Brochu, Matthew, Ashley, and Megan Terjelian; seven great-grandchildren, Kayden Brochu, Madison, Makayla, and Myles Terjelian, Jacob and Gabrielle McDonald, and Garrett Cardin; two brothers, Richard Newcity of Barton, and Wallace Newcity and wife, Joan, of Windsor; sisters, Sandra Holmes and husband, Henry, of Bethel, Linda Lewis of Winooski and Donald Lewis of Bethel; sister-in-law, Nora Newcity of Sharon; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Brochu; brothers, Theodore Newcity and Carley Newcity Jr.; and son-in-law, Paul Terjelian. The family extends special thanks to Sharon and the staff at the Vermont Respite House for the wonderful care given to Elaine. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 12 p.m. in the North Avenue Alliance Church, Burlington. Burial will follow in New Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Respecting Elaine's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elaine's memory may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allenbrook Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
