KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

Off. Hirsch was investigating a burglary in progress at 614 Light Street. While checking the building he discovered the suspect hiding on the second floor of the garage. The suspect ran and fled down the steps. As Off. Hirsch gave chase, the wooden floor gave way and he fell from the second floor to the concrete floor below striking his head. The suspect was never apprehended. Off. Hirsch died from head injuries early the next morning. He had 7 years of service with the police department and he was survived by his wife.
