After Hannah died, he married Anna Elizabeth Glick (1856 – 1927). He had fourteen children, seven with each wife.
Albert and his family lived in Falls City, Nebraska for most of their lives. During that time, Nebraska joined with the other Union states to fight in the American Civil War.
Albert enlisted as a Corporal on 29 October 1862 at the age of 27. After training he joined Company G, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Nebraska on 8 Dec 1862. He was mustered out of Company G, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Nebraska on 23 Dec 1863.
Farming was his main occupation. Albert Dickerson died on 6 Dec 1922 in Litchfield, Sherman, Nebraska. He was laid to rest in the Litchfield Cemetery.
