ATWELL

Mable Stone Atwell, the daughter of Malcome Everett and Florence Stone, was born January 24, 1899 in Lucas County, Iowa and died Sunday, November 24, 1974, of a heart attack at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. She had made her home in Summit for the past five years where her only daughter, Bonnie Hemsworth and family reside.

She was the wife of the late James Atwell and many Chariton residents will remember her as their school teacher in a one-room schoolhouse as long as fifty years ago.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie and husband, James Hemsworth; three grandchildren, James, Holly and Scott; one brother, Tom Stone and one sister, Mrs. John (Nellie) Massman, both of the Chariton area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on June 21, 1951.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. James Robertson, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, at the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
