CONNEAUT — Myrtle I. Felicijan (née: Leube), age 92, a resident of The Villa in Conneaut, Ohio, died peacefully Sunday evening, July 18, 2010, at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
Myrtle was born on Oct. 14, 1917, in McKean Township, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Phillipine (Fischer) Leube. Myrtle graduated from the Albion High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where she served during World War II as a Sergeant. She was one of only a few women who were enlisted as Marines at that time.
Myrtle retired from St. Anne's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she had worked as a Lab Technician.
She was a member of the Albion American Legion and the Albion VFW Post #2341. In her spare time, she enjoyed planting begonias.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Felicijan in 1985. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Biscoff and Mildred Parker, and two brothers, William and Fritze Leube.
Myrtle is survived by many nieces and nephews and a few close friends.
Friends and family may call at the JEAN EVANS THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME at 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., on Saturday, July 24th, from 12 p.m., Noon, until the time of the Life Celebration Service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, Pa.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the West Springfield United Methodist Church, 13790 Chestnut St., West Springfield, Pa. 16443.
