** Date of newspaper is not always the date of the incident - this was a weekly, and stories were written, set, and the printing was done after the facts were typeset, often days later.

Chico Weekly Chronicle Record, Saturday, February 13, 1892, pg 3 col 2: Death of Mrs. Cynthia Brown. Last evening H.N. Gustin received a telegram from Chas. B. Shear of Oakland, announcing the death in that city, of Mrs. Cynthia Brown, which occurred early last evening. Mrs. Brown was well known to most of the residents of this vicinity, having lived here for many years. Mrs. Cynthia Brown was a native of New York, and aged about 43 years. She leaves a daughter, mother and brother to mourn her loss.

It is expected that the remains will be brought to this city for interment, but the arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made to know to the friends and relatives here.

Mrs. Brown was a woman of very many good qualities and had a large circle of friends, who will be pained at the news of her death. The Chronicle-Record joins with the other friends in sympathy for the bereaved ones.
