• Christopher G. BENNETT (born about 1808 in St. Lukes Parish, Beaufort District, South Carolina, died after 1860 when he was a printer in Savannah) &
• Thurza Ann BRANTLEY (born 1810-1815 in Chatham County Georgia, married 1832, died 1865).
In September of 1850, Christopher & "Georgiana" BENNETT, both 39 years old, were living in the 3rd Ward of Charleston, with their children, aged 1 through 16 years. Christopher and their eldest, John, age 16, are employed as printers.
In June of 1860, Christopher, a printer, aged 52, & Thirza A., a seamstress, age 45, were living in Savannah with their seven children; again, their eldest, John B., 27, is also a printer.
In 1861 in Effingham County, John married Mary Ann R. MILLER.
In 1864, the reorganizing militia enrollment lists include J. B. BENNET, age 30, a printer, born in Georgia, living in the 1st Militia District, Savannah, Chatham County.
The two BENNETT infants who were also buried in Lot 82 of Laurel Grove Cemetery were likely the first children of John & Mary:
• Christopher H. BENNETT (1863-1864), and
• Florence Georgia BENNETT (1865-1865).
In June of 1870, John B. BENNET, a Printer, age 39, and his wife Mary E., 29, are living in Savannah with their surviving children, Ann, 3, and Maria, 1, and John's sister, Jane, 35.
Abstract from Laurel Grove Cemetery Keepers Book: John B. BENNETT died the 14th of July, 1873, and was buried the following day in Lot 82. He was a native of Charleston, South Carolina, aged 39 years, and a resident of Stone Street, Currietown Ward.
