Thurza Ann BRANTLEY was born 1810-1815 in Chatham County, Georgia. In 1832 in Chatham County, Miss "Theresa" Ann BRANTLEY was married to Christopher G. BENNETT by Henry I. VALLEAU, J.P. Christopher was born about 1808 in St. Lukes Parish, Beaufort District, South Carolina. Christopher & Thurza had at least seven children, all born in Charleston during 1833-1854:
John B. BENNETT (born 1833-1834, died 1873), who, in 1861 in Effingham County, married Mary Ann R. MILLER,
• Mary Jane BENNETT (born about 1837, living with her parents in 1850 and 1860, living with her brother John in 1870, living with her brother James in 1910),
Harriett Ann BENNETT (1839-1916), the wife and widow, first of Solomon HINDLEY Jr., and then of Samuel C. GARDNER,
James Gordon BENNETT Sr. who was born in 1847, and died in 1916, leaving a widow, Mary Rose MCGUIRE (born about 1877), whom he had married in 1897 in Chatham County (he had first married, by 1870, Elizabeth, "Lizzie," born 1845-1846, died after 1880),
Alexander Henry BENNETT (born about 1851, died 1866),
• Rebecca T. BENNETT (born about 1853), who became the wife of Samuel C. ROBERTS in 1872 in Savannah, and
• Rosalind E. BENNETT (born about 1854, died after 1920), who became the wife, first of
- Samuel W. PARTRIDGE Sr. in 1872, by the Rector of St. Johns Church, Savannah (her first husband was born about 1852 in England, and died in 1876 of yellow fever), and then of
- William H. BERRY in 1878, by the Pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Savannah (her second husband was born in 1843 in South Carolina, and died in 1920 in Savannah).

In September of 1850, Christopher & "Georgiana," both 39 years old, are living in the 3rd Ward of Charleston, with their children, aged 1 through 16 years. Christopher and their eldest, John, age 16, were employed as printers.

In June of 1860, Christopher, a printer, aged 52, & Thirza A., a seamstress, age 45, are living in Savannah with their seven children, all seven of whom were born in Charleston: Again, their eldest, John B., 27, is also a printer; Mary Jane, 23, is noted as deaf and dumb; Harriet A., 20, is a "Mantua Maker;" James G., 15, is a millwright; Alexander H., 10, and Rebecca, 7, attended school within the year; the youngest was Rosalind, 6.

Abstract from Laurel Grove Cemetery Keepers Book: Thursy Ann BENNETT died the 5th of March, 1865, and was buried the following day in Lot 82. She was a native of Savannah, aged 55 years, and a resident of Stewart Street, Walton Ward.
