GySgt O'Connor arrived in Vietnam 16 August 1968 and was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. While on patrol during Operation Meade River GySgt O'Connor was wounded by a hostile mine 2 November 1968 and died at the USAF Hospital at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands.
GySgt served his country for 22 years.
Survived by his stepbrother, Everett E Barton and his 2 sons, Mark A and Gary L O'Connor in c/o of Everett E Barton.
His wife, Ellen B O'Connor died during 1963 and his parents, John Vinson O'Conner Sr and Martha C Ramarr were both deceased.
