Cartoonist. He created the comic strip "Dennis the Menace" in 1951 and drew it for 50 years. The strip inspired a TV show by the same name in the early 1960s. Before creating "Dennis," Ketcham had a career in animation, first with Walter Lantz, creator of "Woody Woodpecker," and then with the Walt Disney studio, where he worked on the features "Pinocchio" (1940), "Fantasia" (1940), "Bambi" (1942), and on Donald Duck shorts. Since Ketcham's death, "Dennis the Menace" has been drawn by his assistants and it runs in 1000 newspapers in 48 countries and 19 languages.
