Flora Daniels was the daughter of Elizabeth Forsaith Daniels and the Hon. Darwin J. Daniels, a merchant and at one time was a Mayor of Manchester.

Flora was 19 years old in 1862 when she married George Bryon Chandler who started as a bookkeeper, became a cashier at the Amoskeag National Bank and then its President. This was a long time bank in Manchester, NH

Flora died in childbirth at age 25,(1868) her infant daughter Flora died 8 weeks later. They are buried in the Valley Cemetery lot 1162. Infant Flora to her right. It is an 8 person, so perhaps at one time George planned on joining her.

George Bryon Chandler later remarried Miss Fannie Martin an heiress, daughter of Benjamin and Mary Martin. Mr. Martin owned the Amoskeag Paper Mill and a beautiful home at 28 Ocean Blvd in N. Hampton, NH which was later sold to Frank P. Carpenter another wealthy mill owner/banker in Manchester, NH.

George and Fannie had three children, Benjamin, Bryon, and Alexander who died in 1878. Alexander is buried in lot 1162 in front of infant Flora.

I have heard atleast 10 different stories that the grave is haunted. I have not experienced any such activity, several individuals while I continue to study the lives of the residents of the Valley Cemetery are quick to point out the grave site and its nighttime activity.
