Kenneth "Doc" Holliday

Kenneth "Doc" Holliday, 78, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Oklahoma native moved to this area in 1970 and had lived in the Glennville and Baxley areas. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, a musician that could play many instruments. Mr. Holliday was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War retiring after 22 years of service with the military. He was a member of the Glennville VFW Post #8379 and a member of Covenant Church in Baxley.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Jackson Holliday of Baxley; children, Eddy and Cay Holliday, Dan and Patsy Holliday and Bonnie Andrews, all of Glennville, Cindy and Lee Helms of Dallas, TX, Wanda Jackson, Jimmy and Ann Jackson, Terry and Kim Jackson, Jamie and Redonnia Jackson, all of Baxley; two sisters, Teena Todd of Velma, OK and Pat Keehn of Albin, OK; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baxley Church of God in Baxley, additional visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 18 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 in the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with the Rev. Lamar Lee and the Rev. Jamie Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Stoney Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with full Military honors.

Pallbearers were Andy Hartley, Shane Holliday, Chris Lightsey, Johnnie Andrews, Choo-Choo Griffin and Stephen Griffie.

Honorary pallbearers were Baxley Church of God Senior Citizens Group, members of VFW Post #8379, Lou Vadala, Jerome Johnson, Bob Adams and Darie Randall.

Arrangements were under the directions of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel.
