Thelma Mae Bradford Byrnes, age 86, passed away on September 9, 2010 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah.

Thelma was born on February 12, 1924, to Leo Stevens Bradford and Winefred Leota Card in Enterprise, Oregon. She married Albert Roy Byrnes on July 22, 1939 in Newcastle, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Thelma was an active member of the American Fork 14th Ward. She held numerous callings and her favorite that she held for 11 years was Sunday School Class President. Thelma served two missions for the LDS Church along with her husband, one to California and a building mission to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Thelma loved gardening, very loud rock n roll music, driving trucks and living life to the fullest. Thelma graduated from college at the age of 57.

She is survived by daughters: Alberta (Tom) Kalma, Wyona (Tom) Frazier and Bobbie Jo (Jeff) Allred, all of St. George; son, Richard (Nan) Byrnes, of American Fork; and son-in-law, John Atkins, of St. George.

Preceded in death by her husband, Albert Byrnes; daughter, Charlotte Atkins; great-grandson, Jaydin Atkins; grandson, Coy Bowers; brothers: Wendell Bradford and Frank Bradford; and sisters: Winona Hoffman and Mona Johnson.

We would like to thank Aspen Ridge and UVRMC and IHC Hospice for the great care you gave our beloved mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 14th Ward Chapel, 396 North 1100 East. Visitations will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. prior to the services.

She will be laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery.
