Civil War Union Army Officer. Served as 2nd Lieutenant in Battery D, 5th United States Regular Artillery, and assumed its command at Gettysburg upon the death of Lt. Charles Hazlett during the action on Little Round Top on July 2, 1863. Retired with the rank of Captain in 1874.
