Services for John Sheldon Adam will be at 11 a.m. Friday August 8, 1986 in St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Road, with burial in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call tonight after 7 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road.
Mr. Adam, who was 67, lived at 911 Crossan Road, Bridleshire Farms, Newark. He died Tuesday in a traffic accident on Lancaster Pike. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and was a 1949 graduate of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He came to Delaware to work in Du Pont Co.'s engineering department in 1951.
He retired in 1982 after 32 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was discharged as a captain in the ordnance division. He was a member of the National Mechanical Engineers Society and the Delaware Professional Engineers Society, the Gun Club of Du Pont's Louviers facility. At Lehigh he was a member of Pi Tau Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, and treasurer of Pi Mu Epsilon. He was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Del Park Manor. He was survived by his wife is survived by his wife, Claire L. Adam; two daughters, a brother, Frank Malcolm Adam of Otto, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
