Killed in Action during the battle on Valentine Ridge, which started on 14-Feb-1968 and continued to 15-Feb-1968.
Sadly, the deployment moved off the ridge at the end of that day with a loss of 10 Marines, one Sailor and many wounded. In addition to Lance Corporal James, those killed in action in the engagement include,
