Her parents were Anthony Hoffmann and ? Nuknau, taken from her death certificate. She was married to August Winkler, date unknown. In the 1870 census, they had 2 children, Mary and John, and he was a carpenter. On 29 Oct 1871, August disappeared while duck hunting, his clothing and gun were found on the shore. It was assumed he had shot a duck, and having no dog, swam to retrieve it. The water was very cold, and he drowned. His body wasn't recovered until the next spring, 20 Apr 1872. Daughter Cecelia was born 4 days before his body was found. Though there were several newspaper articles about it, no burial location has been found.

On 21 Oct 1872 she was married to Andreas Glish. They had a son, Stanley Martin. In the 1900 census, Pauline was listed as a widow. However, husband Andreas was also listed in 1900 as being in Pierce Co., WI...a single man.
