Bonnie Jean passed away peacefully at her home in West Jordan, UT on September 2, 2010 while surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born January 31, 1926 in Park City, UT to Bessie Murray Thompson and David Mark Thompson.
She left Park City to attend college at Utah State University. During this time, she met William Marson, who was enrolled in the NROTC program at the University of Utah. Bonnie and Bill were married on December 31, 1947. They moved their family to California where they spent many years living in Santa Barbara, Glendora, and lastly Santa Rosa. After thirty-seven years of marriage, Bonnie sadly lost her husband in 1984 but continued to live a very full and active life.
She was passionate about music and singing with her Etude group, and was an accomplished artist, exhibiting and selling her artwork throughout Sonoma County, where she won many awards. Her favorite pastimes included reading, taking classes, and spending time with her close circle of friends.
She was especially fascinated by foreign cultures and was fortunate to travel internationally several times. Bonnie's pioneer heritage was very important to her, and she was proud to be a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Beta Sigma Phi, and various Sonoma artist associations.
In 1998, Bonnie married Jean Adamson, also originally from Park City. Together, they enjoyed watching Jazz basketball, visiting family, and sharing memories of Park City.
She is survived by her husband Jean Adamson, her brother Arthur Thompson of Layton, and daughters Jill Marson Rothman of Anacortes, WA; Julie Garbett of Glendora, CA; and Caryl Haering of Saratoga Springs, UT. Also surviving Bonnie are nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Murray and George A. (Tommy) Thompson, her daughter Mary Jean Flora, and her son Craig Marson. She was loved by all and will be missed very much.
Services and viewing will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 500 North 325 East, Heber City, UT. The viewing will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m., with funeral services at 3:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Heber City Cemetery.
