Nellie Jane Branson, 82 of Ashland passed away March 17, 2010 in Largo, Florida. Mrs. Branson was born May 29, 1927 in Jefferson City, the daughter of James and Kathryn Fischer Swim. She married Frank E. Branson on October 5, 1946 in Jefferson City.
Nellie retired from the University of Missouri where she worked as an administrative associate in the admissions and registrar's office. She was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church having served as secretary and treasurer for the church. She was an Ashland 4-H leader and was past president of the Southern Boone County R-1 PTA.
Survivors include her husband, Frank E. Branson of Ashland; one son, Rodney F. Branson of Ashland and former daughter-in-law Tracy Hudson Branson; three daughters, Cynthia K. Arendt and her husband Bill of Columbia, Pamela B. Stubbs of Ashland and Marsha L. Root of Blackwater; five grandchildren, Thaddeus Stubbs and his wife Beth, Courtney Swan and her husband Ryan, Nicholas R. Root and his wife Mandy, Frank K. Branson, James C. Branson and one great grandchild Jackson D. Stubbs, two step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, one brother Thomas B. Swim, one sister Shirley M. Guffey and a son-in-law Steven M. Root.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am, March 24, 2010 at the Ashland Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Rich officiating. Interment was in the New Salem Cemetery under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home of Ashland.
