Benjamin Auten was the son of Jehiel Auten and Emily Ann Caswell. He married Carrie Smith. Children: Roy, Ethel, Maud, and Clarence. Family researchers indicate Benjamin, Carrie, and Maud are buried at Rice Cemetery. Ethel married Frederick Olds, son of Gideon Olds and Katharine Kemp. (Benjamin's brother, John B. Auten, married Clory (or Cora) Smith, who was a sister to Carrie Smith.)
