Obituary
John Elliott Pingry was born March 6, 1856. Died September, 4th 1913 at the age of 57 years 5 months and 29 days. His birth was in Jay county, Ind., at which place he resided until 1883 moving from there to Silverdale, Kansas where he resided until his death. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Miss Rachael Chenowirth. To this union one child Bert Pingry. His second marriage was to Miss Kate Clay. To this union were born 7 children, two of whom have preceded him to the grave. The funeral was held in the M.E. church at Silverdale, conducted by Rev. Cecil, of Winfield a former pastor. The sermon was a tender message to the family and friends. At the funeral were all his children and what was more remarkable all his brothers and sisters. Five are all that remain from a family of nine. Those present were, Rev. Thos. Pingry of Oklahoma City, Okla., William Pingry of Wellston, Okla., Solomon Pingry of Arkansas City, Kansas.

The deceased had been a faithful husband and father, was of a kindly disposition which made him companionable and his neighbors speak well of him, a regard that always is associated with character.

His going is greatly lamented by those who intimately knew him. The interment took place at the cemetery near Silverdale, where now sleeps father, mother, one brother and a son and daughter Jesse and Stacia. John had been poorly for years and a great sufferer for nearly a year. He was conscious to the last, calling his wife and children to his bedside he bade them good bye saying death could not come too soon, as he was so weary. So he rests and will await the final call when the world shall awake to judgment. May we each and all be ready for the rest that remains to the people of God. - Thos. Pingry.
