Alger Soldier Killed In Asia

ALGER, Jan. 13 - Overseas about one month as a gunner on a B-29, Cpl. Samuel B. Scott, 19, was killed in action Jan. 7 in the Asiatic area, according to a telegram received from the War department Friday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scott, Alger.

Cpl. Scott enlisted in the Army while a senior in Alger high school in November 1943, and later was given his diploma. He went overseas just last month.

He was born in Ada Dec. 5, 1925 and besides his parents has a brother, S. 2-c Ernest Scott, located at San Francisco, Calif.

ALGER, June 26 - Final rites for Cpl. Samuel B. Scott, 19, who was killed in action in 1945 in India, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hanson funeral home here. The Rev. T. A. Ballinger will conduct the short prayer service with burial in Woodlawn cemetery, Ada. The American Legion post of Ada and the VFW post of Roundhead will conduct military rites at the grave.

Cpl. Scott is survived by his father, Harry R. Scott, Alger; and his mother, Mrs. Mary Scott, Lima; a brother, Henry, Alger; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Scott, Route 1, Lafayette; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bernice Dreitzler, Ada.

ALGER, June 30 - Military rites for Cpl. Samuel B. Scott, 19, Alger World War II hero, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hanson funeral home. The Rev. T. A. Ballinger will conduct a short prayer service at the home with the American Legion of Ada and the VFW post of Roundhead in charge of graveside rites at Woodlawn cemetery, Ada.

Cpl. Scott was killed Jan. 7, 1945, with the Army Air Forces in India.

He was born in Ada Dec. 5, 1925, and had lived most of his life in Alger.

Survivors include his father, Harry Scott, Alger; his mother, Mrs. Mary Scott, Lima; a brother, Henry, Alger; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Scott, Route 1, Lafayette, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bernice Dreitzler, Ada.
