Bessie K. Lucas Cavaenness, 93, of Pasadena, Texas, and formerly of Yoakum, died January 17, 2003.
She was born February 2, 1909 to the late Daly S. and Janie H. Ball Thomas. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Hebron Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Abigail Lucas Hatch of Deer Park and Glenda Lucas Simmang of Canyon Lake; sons, Jack V. Lucas Jr. of Deer Park and James Lynn Lucas Sr. of Thackerville, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Jasper V. Lucas Sr. and Tommy K. Cavaenness; parents; daughter, Carlyn Nell Nesbitt; son, Bobby Ray Lucas Sr.; sisters, Vivian Edgston Wyche, Lena Moses, Olivia Sledge, Geneva Mimms, and Claudia Thomas Barkman; brothers, Tillman R. Thomas, Barney K. Thomas, and Jewel H. Thomas.
Visitation was Sunday, January 19 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel, Cuero. Funeral services were Monday at the funeral home chapel, Rev. Buddy Means officiated. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery, Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-274-2343.
Pallbearers were Bob Tumlinson, Paul Tumlinson, Kenneth Beall, Kurtis Beall, Nathan Wittman, and Kristopher Wade.
Memorials: Hebron Baptist Church or the Hebron Cemetery Fund.
