KERSHAW Sadie Mobley Hegler, 100, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007.
Born Sept. 17, 1907, in Heath Springs, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Capers and Cannie Williams Mobley. She was married to the late James Franklin Hegler Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was the eldest member. She received her nurse's training from the S.C. State Hospital and she participated in Lancaster Co. Council on Aging.
Survivors include three daughters, Jacqueline H. Watson and her husband, Thomas, of Kershaw, June H. Thomas and her husband, Edward Sr. of Columbia and Dorothy H. Goodwin and her husband, J. Coke, of Camden; two sons, James F. Hegler Jr. of Columbia and William M. Hegler of Myrtle Beach; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Theo Mobley of Darlington, Viola Billie Brannon of Columbia and Eva Brown of Great Falls.
Services were Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Kershaw, conducted by the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner, with burial in Kershaw City Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethea Baptist Retirement Center in Darlington.
