William is the first born son of John and Elizabeth Weidler Bard. William was drafted into the Army, 28 March 1863. He served in the 98th Pa. Vol, Company B as a Pvt and the 169th Pa, Inf. His draft registration lists him as age 41, eyes gray, hair brown, fair complexion, and height 5'8". His wife, Addie, applied for a Widow's pension abt 1896 and it looks as if it was granted.
It looks as if he and Addie never had any children. They had their niece Hattie living with them for several years.
