HACKNEY, ESTELLE W. (nee Somers) - of Cologne, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 8th. Wife of the late Earl Paul Hackney, owner of Hackney's Machine Shop in Pleasantville. Mother of six children: daughter: Doris Earline Hackney Russo of Florida, sons: Earl Robert Hackney and wife Nancy, Kenneth Dean Hackney, daughter-in-law Judy Hackney, Raymond Paul Hackney deceased, David Lee Hackney and wife Jennifer and Donald Eugene Hackney and wife Terry. Grandmother of: Robert, Vicki, Kathy, Terri, Jen, Sami, Nathanael, Elizabeth, Samantha and Raymond. Ten Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. Siblings include: Harry H. Somers (deceased), Florence Hamilton (deceased), Mary McArdle (deceased) and Betty Rogers of Oregon. Daughter of the late John I. Somers (Civil Engineer of Margate and Longport) and Rosetta Carmen Somers. Paternal Heritage from John Somers (1623-1661) of Worcestershire, England. The Somers family founded Somers Point. Maternal Heritage from "Otto the Great" Holy Roman Emperor until 1806 and also Dr. Bono Otto from the American Revolutionary War. Estelle was born and raised in Pleasantville - P.H.S. Class of 1937. Life-time member of the Bethany-St. John Methodist Church in Pleasantville and recently Proclaiming His Word Fellowship in Pleasantville. Estelle was a past officer of the Cologne Grange and the Pleasantville Schools P.T.A. and known as "Grandmom" at the Port Republic School. She is and always will be dearly loved and she will be sadly missed by all. Service will be held on Friday, April 10th at Proclaiming His Word Fellowship, 101 N. 1st Street Pleasantville, NJ at 11am. Viewing will begin at 10am. Burial will be at Germania Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to and condolences may be sent to the family at www.adams-perfect.com
